Georgina is an American mountaineer, adventurer, and activist pursuing the Explorers Grand Slam, a feat fewer than thirty women have completed. Since 2008 her expeditions have doubled as a platform for women and planet, supporting the fight against gender-based violence and bearing witness to a changing climate. The founder of She Ventures and a 1% for the Planet board member, she believes the hardest mountains are the ones within - and that all of us can climb them.

In her own words

What do you do in the mountains?

I am a mountaineer, adventurer, and activist who has climbed and explored across the world and am currently pursuing the Explorers Grand Slam (less than 30 women). But the mountains have never been solely about summits for me.

Since 2008 I have used my expeditions as a platform for women and planet. One in three women globally will experience gender-based violence in her lifetime. That reality has shaped the purpose behind my climbing and my support for organizations including V-Day, Panzi Hospital, and International Medical Corps.

The mountains remind me that women, people, and planet are interconnected. Through adventure, activism, and storytelling, I seek to elevate women's voices, bring attention to places at risk, and deepen our connection to one another and the Earth.

The moment that means the most

The accomplishment that means the most to me is not a single summit, but the journey of climbing mountains outside and within. I went from not being able to run a mile to climbing some of the highest mountains on Earth, opening my life in ways I never imagined.

Yet some of the hardest mountains I have climbed have had nothing to do with altitude. They have been the inner mountains of fear, loss, adversity, starting over, and confronting my own limitations. The mountains taught me how to keep moving through those moments and find refuge within myself.

We all have mountains to climb, and we are capable of moving beyond the limitations we believe define us.

What's next?

What's next is continuing to live life as an adventure and creating impact along the way. I am pursuing the Explorers Grand Slam, with the North Pole, South Pole, Mount Vinson, and Carstensz Pyramid remaining. I also want to spend more time ski mountaineering, something I deeply love, return to running, and explore more wild places.

Beyond the mountains, I am growing She Ventures, the global company I founded at the intersection of leadership, culture, and impact - exploring what becomes possible when we venture beyond our perceived limitations.
